Request an ARG/US Report from Your Air Charter Company

Chartering a jet is not only a huge expense, but also comes with massive responsibility on your part to ensure that your party is safe with the charter jet service you have chosen

The expectations you place upon your charter jet service should be safety first and foremost. In order to put your worries to rest, you should make sure that the charter jet service you decide on provides you with ARG/U.S. Analytic reports. ARG/US (Aviation Research Group/United States) is a research group responsible for producing analytical reports of part 135 airplane and jet operators, including plane research, pilot research, jet plane records for maintenance and breakdowns, and the rank that your jet operator has been given by the ARG/US. If the charter jet service you are using refuses to provide an ARG/US report you should be shopping for a new charter jet service that will provide you with this information.

ARG/US has five levels of compliance rankings for its aircraft operators:

DNQ rankings indicate that this operator does not comply with the standards that ARG/US has for its operators. A DNQ rating may be the result of A poor historical safety rating based on the data collected and analyzed, a significant safety issue with a pilot or aircraft operated, or a failure of an on-site safety audit. Most issues that cause a DNQ rating stand a good chance of being corrected over time My advice is to stay away from any charter jet service whose operators do not comply with ARG/US standards.

Silver ratings will be given to operators who may have had a problem complying in the past, or had a poor safety record that has been omitted after 10 years, or a newer service that has no track record yet, but still complies with the ARG/US standards of operation.

A Gold rating will be given to operators who provide data on the aircraft operated, and the pilots employed, ARG/US will evaluate for a Gold Rating. The Gold level is assigned to operators who meet or exceed the established ARG/US standards for equipment and crew experience. Personally I would not use a charter jet service whose operators score any lower than this rating.

Gold Plus rating is given to those who have a Gold rating plus have undergone an on site safety audit by the ARG/US. These operators are found to be conducive to further safety practices and are given the plus rating for their efforts.

Platinum rating is the highest rating by the ARG/US and is only doled out to very few companies. A Platinum rating requires a functioning Safety Management System, and clear and workable Emergency Response Plan, and appropriate written standards, implementation, and records for all major aspects of operations and maintenance within a flight department or charter company. This is the most prestigious ranking and should be searched for when choosing a charter jet service.
