Introducing Gulfstream’s Newest Private Jet Aircraft – the G150
Gulfstream Aerospace’s newest business private jet aircraft is the G150. This jet was certified in November of 2005. In total, fourteen models of this jet have been delivered since the certification process and all of them have received positive reviews from customers worldwide. With this article, I hope to provide you with a better understanding on what a G150 is and why it stands apart from other jets.
The G150 has just enough range to fly transcontinental missions as well as maintaining a competitive amount of fuel consumption. This jet has one of the widest cabins available in its class and is able to cruise at speeds that are quicker than similar aircraft. It is designed to compete with private jet aircraft such as the Learjet 60XR, The Hawker 900XP and the Citation Sovereign.
The G150 and the G100 models both have similar structures, engines, and major systems. The main difference between the two jets is the cabin of the G150. This cabin has been completely redesigned and can accommodate up to eight passengers. The measurements are 17.7 feet long, 5.8 feet high and 5.8 feet wide. Because of the added height to the cabin, taller passengers are able to move around comfortably.
This private jet aircraft has one of the widest cabins out of other aircraft in the industry. Baggage space is available for passengers in interior and exterior compartments, and the total amount of storage space equals to 80 cubic feet. This should provide you with more than enough room for luggage and other items you may be bringing on your flight.
One of the larger benefits that come with renting a private jet aircraft is the upgraded amenities. You will be able to take advantage of an entertainment system that comes with a dual DVD/CD player so that you can relax and watch your favorite movie in style or listen to music of your choice. The cabin contains a full kitchen, power outlets, and a fully-enclosed lavatory as well as a fully stocked bar for your drinking pleasures.
Another similarity between the two private jet aircraft is the structure of the jets. The only exception is the nose of the aircraft; it has been completely redesigned and the result reflects a sleeker profile and an aircraft that is aerodynamically advanced. Noteworthy changes have also been made to the wings of the jet; the wings of the G150 are more flexible. The added flexibility allows for the private jet aircraft to perform smoothly when flying through turbulent areas.
A huge selling point for the G150 is its flight range; this private jet aircraft can fly eight passengers 3,018 nautical miles with required NBAA IFR fuel reserves. That is pretty impressive for a jet of this size. The G150 has the ability to complete transcontinental missions due to its range capabilities. Flights from Los Angeles to Honolulu and New York to Shannon, Ireland are a few examples of transcontinental flights.
Out of all of the improvements that have been made to the G150, some of the most important took place in the cockpit area of this private jet aircraft. The G100 was manufactured with a Pro Line 4 flight deck; this deck was replaced on the G150 with the Pro Line 21 suite, which has been extremely successful. The Gulfstream Company did not stop there; they also added several improvements of their own to the Pro Line 21 system which consisted of better displays, easier FMS and E-chart updates, and an optional upgrade to a paperless cockpit.
In most areas, the G150 runs right alongside its competitors; however when it comes to cabin width, flight range and average cruising speed, this private jet aircraft comes up a winner every time!
